I gotta admit, I managed to get myself a wee bit worked up before I took my first dose. I’d been on the facebook support page and I’d been reading about all kinds of horrendous side effects that were starting to freak me out a bit.
I calmed down a little when someone commented that the people who don’t have nasty side effects on Saxenda wouldn’t be on the page asking for help. So maybe, there were more people out there who felt fine than those who experienced side effects?
Anyhoo, it was time to bite the bullet. Saxenda needs to be taken at the same time every day so I decided that 1pm was good for me. There doesn’t seem to be any time thats better than others so that will do.
I’d watched some youtube videos to see how to use the pen because I’d had no guidance at all from my medical team. It looked easy enough, once you got over the fear of actually giving yourself an injection.
Eveything I saw said that you won’t even feel the needle because it was so small and it only needs to go under the skin.
I didn’t believe a word of it. It’s a needle, of course its going to fucking hurt.
Only it didn’t. I didn’t feel a thing. If I hadn’t watched the needle going in I would have thought nothing had happened. So, that was done. .6mg of Saxenda safely injected.
And now we wait.
It was a bit of an anti-climax to be honest. I felt nothing. And I continued to feel nothing all day. Apart from hungry of course, I still got hungry.
I did feel indigestion at one point. Actually, no, it was more that “I’m going to get indigestion” feeling. I took an omeprazole and it went away.
I ate normally all day. Well, what’t been normal for me lately:
Breakfast - optifast shake
Lunch - chicken and vegetable soup with 2 slices of soy and linseed bread for dunking
Dinner - cheese and optifast desert
I also tried to drink 2 litres of water but managed to only get 1 litre plus a couple of decaf coffees.
So far so good.
